About Grace

A church helping
people find and
follow Jesus.

For more than 70 years, Grace has been part of this valley. What began with a small group of people continues today as a growing, multilingual church helping people find and follow Jesus.

Grace is a place for people from different generations, cultures, and stories to find community and follow Jesus together.

Un lugar para encontrar comunidad, crecer en la fe y seguir a Jesús juntos.

Our Story · Since 1955

Our Story

A small beginning.
A bigger story.

Grace began in 1955 with a small group of people who believed God was calling them to start a church in the Glendora–North Covina area. What started in a living room has grown across generations, languages, buildings, and ministries — but the mission has remained the same: helping people find and follow Jesus.

It started in a living room.

In early 1955, a small group of people felt called to begin a church serving the Glendora–North Covina area. They first gathered in the Boyd home before Grace officially began on July 24, 1955 at Glendora Recreational Park.

Putting down roots.

Grace found a permanent home at 1515 S. Glendora Ave. In September 1956, construction began on the original sanctuary — the building known today as the Worship Arts Center.

Making room for more.

As ministries and attendance continued to grow, Grace expanded the campus. Building A was dedicated in October 1966. By 1969, the church had grown from just 18 people to 325 regular attendees.

The Early Years

A church taking shape.

The campus continued to take shape as Grace made room for worship, families, and ministry. These early spaces became part of a growing church serving the surrounding valley.

One church. More languages.

Una iglesia. Más idiomas.

Grace became a multilingual church when Spanish-language services began under Pastor Lew Whittle. Grace Español continues to be an important part of the Grace family today.

Growing Together

Building for what was next.

As Grace continued to grow, the campus grew with it. New spaces created more opportunities for people to worship, build community, serve families, and reach the surrounding valley.

The story is still being written.

More than 70 years later, Grace continues to serve generations, cultures, and communities throughout the valley and beyond — helping people find and follow Jesus.

70+

Years of Grace.
And we’re just getting started.

Más de 70 años de gracia. Y apenas estamos comenzando.

Since 1955, generations of people have helped shape the story of Grace. Today, that story continues as we help people find and follow Jesus throughout the valley and beyond.

The Story Continues

“I’m so grateful to be part of what God is doing at Grace.

Estamos agradecidos por todo lo que Dios está haciendo en Grace.

In 2024, Kevin Finkbiner became Lead Pastor of Grace Church, continuing a story that began nearly seven decades earlier. As Grace looks toward the future, the heart remains the same: helping people find and follow Jesus.

Our Values

What shapes the way we live.

Our values help shape the kind of church we want to be and the way we live out our mission together. They influence how we teach, serve, build relationships, and show the love of Jesus to our community.

Practical Bible Teaching

We teach the Bible in a clear way that leads to action, because truth transforms when it’s lived out.

Community

We were meant to do life together.

Authenticity

Come as you are. Nobody’s perfect, and we don’t pretend to have it all together.

Diversity

We celebrate the unique mix of people God has brought together and strive to reflect the beauty of our community.

Generosity

We give freely of our time, our resources, and our lives, because we believe living beyond ourselves is how we show God’s love.

Estos valores dan forma a cómo vivimos nuestra fe, servimos a nuestra comunidad y seguimos a Jesús juntos.

What We Believe

Jesus is at the center of it all.

Our beliefs are rooted in Scripture and centered on Jesus. These convictions shape what we teach, how we live, and the hope we share with the world around us.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things and is worthy of our worship, trust, and obedience.

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is our trustworthy authority for faith and life.

We believe humanity was created in the image of God, but sin separates us from Him and leaves us unable to restore that relationship on our own.

We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He made a way for us to be reconciled to God.

We believe Jesus willingly gave His life on the cross, bearing the penalty of sin so that forgiveness and new life are available through faith in Him.

We believe the Holy Spirit lives within every follower of Jesus, empowering us to grow in faith, become more like Christ, and live out God's purposes.

We believe following Jesus changes the way we live. Through God's grace and the work of the Holy Spirit, we are called to grow in faith, love, obedience, and Christlike character.

We believe all who place their faith in Jesus become part of His Church. Together, we worship, grow, serve one another, and carry the good news of Jesus into the world.

We believe every person will ultimately spend eternity either in the presence of God or separated from Him, and that eternal life is received through faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe Satan is a real spiritual enemy who opposes God and seeks to deceive and destroy, but his defeat has been secured through Jesus Christ.

We believe Jesus calls every follower to make disciples, sharing the good news and helping people find and follow Him.

We believe Jesus Christ will return and that His followers can live with hope and confidence in His promised future.

We believe Jesus gave the Church practices that visibly express our faith and remind us of the gospel, including baptism and the Lord's Supper.

We believe baptism is an outward expression of an inward faith in Jesus and a public declaration of new life in Him.

We believe communion is a meaningful remembrance of Jesus' sacrifice and a celebration of the grace we have received through Him.

Nuestras creencias están arraigadas en la Biblia y centradas en Jesús. Estas verdades guían nuestra fe, nuestra vida y nuestra misión.

Helping People Find and Follow Jesus

NUESTRA HISTORIA

What We

Believe

ONE GOD: Holy, infinite, eternal and unchangeable, subsisting in a mysterious and eternal trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
ONE WORD: The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, given by plenary and verbal inspiration of God, and the only infallible rule of faith and practice.
ONE CONDEMNATION: All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
ONE SAVIOR: The Lord Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh; in His essential deity, virgin birth, sinless life, vicarious death, physical and bodily resurrection from the grave and His ascension into heaven from whence He shall return personally and premillennially to set up an earthly kingdom.
ONE ATONEMENT FOR SIN: Made by Jesus Christ in a substitutionary and sacrificial death on the cross, sufficient for all, available for all, taking every legal obstacle out of the way of all, and on these grounds to be offered to all, and that all must be born again or be forever lost.
ONE SPIRIT: God, the Holy Ghost, through whose sovereign agency in regeneration, the soul, dead in sin, is made alive in Christ, and through whose sovereign agency in sanctification, the soul is changed more and more into the divine image from glory to glory.
ONE LIFE: The life hid with Christ in God – the life eternal; begun when a sinner believes and receives Him, and continues thereafter by effectual and sovereign grace of God.
ONE CHURCH: Which is Christ’s body, all the members of which God hath from the beginning chose in Christ to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth.
TWO DESTINIES: Heaven and Hell; that Heaven is a place of eternal life with Christ, and that Hell is a place of eternal death and separation from God.
ONE SATAN: Both tempter and accuser who exists in personality and reality.
ONE COMMISSION: The great evangelistic and missionary commission given by Jesus Christ to the disciples and the continuing church.
THAT BLESSED HOPE: The personal, premillennial return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
ORDINANCES: The Ordinances of the Gospel are baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
BAPTISM is the immersion in water of a believer in Christ (“. . . in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost . . .”) and symbolizes the believer’s death, burial and resurrection with Christ to walk in newness of life.

THE LORD’S SUPPER is a commemoration of His broken body and shed blood for the remission of sin and symbolizes the fact that the believer identifies himself with the death of Jesus Christ. This ordinance should be partaken only by those whose faith is in Christ and it is to continue till He comes.
