THE LIFE OF DAVID SERIES

MADE FOR MORE

There are many things that distinguish David – some of them good and some of them not-so-good!  But in the end David is awarded the title of “a man after God’s own heart.”

In this series we want to discover how David moved from being called by God to growing deeply in love with God.  There is more for us and David shows us the way to that more!

We are studying the life of DAVID for how these 4 reasons can lead us to more:

 1. Because David made all the mistakes we do (and more and worse) but is given the title “a man after God’s own heart”.

 2. Because David was brave enough to write and sing about his emotions and God saw it fit to preserve his journal for the rest of humanity.

 3. Because David shows us what God can do with anyone who is willing to surrender all of themselves to all of Him.

4. Because David reminds us that God is always up to something more than we can see and imagine.

You too were made for more! Do you believe it?

Join us every Sunday, starting on May 8th, for this series at 9 or 11 AM.

WEEK OF JOURNALING

Every month this year at Grace we’re taking one week to focus on a new spiritual discipline. This month, the week of May 23-27th, we’ll be focused on the spiritual discipline of Journaling. Journaling is related closely to prayer, meditation and study; it enhances our personal reflection and encourages the recording of our perspectives we’ve received from Scripture. A way to focus and record the spiritual journey God has each one of us on!

Join us this week in reflecting and responding to the following prompts in writing-

Mon, May 23- For some, journaling can be overwhelming. To get you started, simply begin by writing out a letter or prayer to God.

Tues, May 24- David made all the mistakes we do (and more and worse) but is given the title “a man after God’s own heart.” Spend time today writing a confession letter to the Lord and asking Him to give you the heart of God.

Wed, May 25- David was brave enough to write and sing about his emotions and God saw it fit to preserve his journal for the rest of humanity. Read one of David’s Psalms, Psalm 13 three times through. What word or phrase stands out to you? Spend some time writing about that word or phrase. What is God telling you?How can you respond to Him today?

Thurs, May 26- David shows us what God can do with anyone who is willing to surrender all of themselves to all of Him. What does surrender look like for you right now? Write down three intentions that you can pursue over the course of the summer to lead you to further surrender to God.

Fri, May 27- David reminds us that God is always up to something more than we can see or imagine. Spend some time dreaming with God. What does “more” look like for your life? What is the “more” God is calling you to?

Sat May 28- God is good and when we focus on His goodness we are changed. Spend some time thinking about what God is doing in and around you. Write a list of appreciation, celebration and gratefulness!

We’ll be continuing this spiritual discipline throughout our series on David, so follow us on social media for our weekly journal prompt!
