What is Advent?

The season of Advent spans the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. While Advent is certainly a time of celebration and anticipation of Christ’s birth, it is more than that. During these weeks before Christmas, Christians look back upon Jesus’ first coming with celebration while at the same time looking forward in eager anticipation of his second coming, when he will return for His people.

In the midst of holiday celebrations, last minute shopping, bright lights and over-the-top decorations, the Advent message calls us as Christians to keep looking for where God is still working in the world today. We need to check ourselves to make sure we are ready to join Him in His work. During advent, Christians reflect on the violence and evil that is still in the world and our need for God to make things right. We also recognize our own sinfulness and need for grace, which leads us to pray for the Holy Spirit to renew his work in changing us more and more to be like Jesus.

Why pick up a Family Advent Kit?

We believe celebrating advent together as a family offers God-sized opportunities for parents to verbalize their faith with their kids, pray blessings over them and be intentional with growing them in their faith. These kits are a fun and made for the whole family…from your preschooler to your high schooler! Inside each kit you’ll find a guide that will walk you and your family through the 4 weeks of advent; giving you an opportunity to read and discuss God’s Word together while doing a purposeful activity. There is no cost for the kit…it’s our Christmas gift to you!
