This focus area is for our 4th – 6th graders. Over the twelve weeks, kids will learn the ins and outs of live theater performances. They will perform a rendition of “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.” We will host auditions during the first week of Grace Academy.
Kids in this focus area will prepare a vocal performance as a part of the entertainment of the Dinner Theater event.
Kids will work hands-on using creativity to create the physical sets needed for the performance. They will learn important construction skills such as safety and using tools correctly.
Kids in this focus area will be taught the basics of hospitality. They’ll learn how to host an event, serve guests, set the tables, and make decorations.
In this focus area, kids will learn about everything that goes into preparing a meal. They will be planning and cooking the dinner for the Dinner Theater.
WHY ARE WE DOING IT?
The purpose of Grace Academy is not to teach kids how to be experts in their focus area or put on the best performance but to model how to follow Jesus while learning new life skills (and having lots of fun while doing it!) Through intentional time spent with leaders.
WHEN IS IT?
Weekly meetings will take place on Wednesday nights from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm beginning on January 25 and ending on April 12. For the Acting focus group, there will be additional Saturday rehearsals.
The Dinner Theater will take place on Friday, April 14, and Saturday, April 15 (time is TBD).
The cost is $35. The cost of registration covers supplies for each area of discipleship plus the cost of the dinner theater events.
